Chair of NHS 24’s Public Partnership Forum Honoured with British Empire Medal
Anne MacDougall, Chair of NHS 24’s Public Partnership Forum (PPF) has been honoured with the British Empire Medal (BEM) as part of the King’s Birthday Honours List. Recognising Anne’s remarkable contribution as a volunteer, the BEM is awarded to individuals for their achievement or contribution of a very “hands-on” service to the community in a local geographical area.

Anne became a volunteer following her retirement from a distinguished 35-year career in nursing in 2009. In addition to her voluntary role with NHS 24, Anne has also dedicated time and expertise with the Carers Coalition, the West Dunbartonshire Integrated Joint Board, the Clydebank Crime Prevention Panel, and the Samaritans.
NHS 24’s PPF is a vital platform that allows NHS 24 to engage with community members, ensuring as many voices as possible are heard and the needs of the diverse population in Scotland are met. Anne began her relationship with NHS 24’s PPF almost 10 years ago and has been instrumental in helping to shape the public’s perspective on NHS 24’s projects and services. Through her involvement, Anne has helped to share information about NHS 24 and the range of services we offer to people living in her local community.
Expressing her gratitude, Anne said, “I feel humbled to receive this award. I have volunteered for many years with a number of different organisations, as I have always felt a responsibility to give something back to the community. I got involved with NHS 24 after the good care my husband received from the organisation when he was terminally ill, and I have been pleased to help bring a public voice to NHS 24’s work.”
Huge congratulations to Anne from NHS 24 on this well-deserved honour.
