Angus Minor Injury and Illness Units are nurse led units for patients with minor injuries and illness which you cannot treat yourself. For example:
• Sprains and strains
• Minor bone injuries
• Minor burns and scalds
• Insect and animal bites
• Minor eye injuries
X-ray is available Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 12:15 and from 13:30 to 16:30.
Minor Illnesses should be dealt with by your local pharmacist or GP practice in the first instance. Local pharmacists can also provide a whole range of services including free advice, support and guidance on all your health problems. Opticians are also now able to deal with eye problems including foreign bodies.
If there is something that cannot wait until your own GP opens again please contact NHS 24 on 111 who will direct you to the most appropriate place.

For Patients who live in Brechin and registered with Brechin Health Centre
If you live in the Brechin area and registered with Brechin Health Centre and have a minor injury that is not serious, for example a sprain, strain, minor burn, insect/animal bite or minor eye injury you can call Brechin Health Centre on 01356 624411.
The reception staff will ask you a series of questions to help direct you to the most appropriate member of the healthcare team during normal opening hours (8am - 6pm). While certain injuries may be appropriate for management within the practice, you may also be signposted to another local healthcare provider such as the community pharmacy, or where more specialized assessment is required, you may be advised to attend one of the two minor injury units in Arbroath or Forfar.
Anyone who is not a patient of Brechin Health Centre should attend one of the other Minor Injury and Illness Units in Arbroath or Forfar.
