Inclusive employer

NHS 24 is committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, included and able to achieve their own personal career aspirations.

We understand that people can sometimes experience inequalities when in, or seeking, employment. As an inclusive employer, we take positive steps to advance equality and tackle discrimination.

We want your experience as a staff member, or job applicant, to be the best it possibly can be. If there is anything that we can do to make your job application, or employment, with us easier, then please do let us know, as we would be happy to discuss this with you.

We welcome reasonable adjustment requests in relation to our application and interview process. If you wish to discuss a reasonable adjustment request, please contact a member of the Recruitment Team on recruitment24@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

Age-friendly Employer

NHS 24 has signed the Age-friendly Employer Pledge, a nationwide programme run by the Centre for Ageing Better. By signing the pledge, we are showing our commitment to older workers and making workplace age-friendly.

This means we’re taking action to improve our recruitment, retention and development of workers aged 50 and over.

Being a part of the pledge means we draw on a wider pool of applicants for each job. It means older workers can continue to thrive and contribute to our organisation. And it means we can benefit from the innovation and productivity boost that multigenerational workforces bring.

Carer Positive

NHS 24 is a Carer Positive Employer at Engaged Level. We understand how important it is for our organisation and workforce to provide a supportive working environment enabling carers to identify themselves to access the information, support, and services available to help them.

Raising awareness of our workforce will help NHS 24 to better understand the challenges faced by carers, signpost to appropriate services, practical sources of information such as Care Information Scotland and organisational policies. This will help NHS 24 to support carers with their health and wellbeing, future planning and build resilience into our workforce.

Most of us in our lifetime will be required to take on a caring responsibility and many of us may not even realise when this happens. Caring responsibilities can often be unexpected and may be short or long term.

  Living Wage Scotland

NHS 24 recognises the importance in all our employees receiving fair salaries. As an accredited Living Wage Scotland employer, NHS 24 is committing to paying a minimum wage rate based on the cost of living.

Calculated annually by The Resolution Foundation, the living wage is based on analysis of a wage that employees need to earn in order to afford a basket of goods required for a decent standard of living – including housing, childcare, transport and heating costs.

  SCQF - Inclusive Recruiter

At NHS 24, we believe in recognising the full potential of every candidate. By becoming an SCQF Inclusive Recruiter, we’re committed to valuing all qualifications fairly and transparently — helping us tap into a wider, more diverse talent pool. This initiative supports our mission to build an inclusive, skilled, and future-ready workforce. It’s not just about recruitment — it’s about creating opportunities, breaking down barriers, and making sure everyone’s achievements are recognised.

The SCQF Inclusive Recruiter scheme helps employers in Scotland broaden their applicant pool by focusing on SCQF levels rather than specific qualifications in job descriptions. This approach recognizes that various qualifications can align with a particular job’s requirements, promoting equality and potentially identifying a wider range of suitable candidates. The scheme also provides tools and training to help employers understand and utilize the SCQF framework effectively.
